Taiwan-based Ventec Electronics, dedicated to specialty copper-clad laminates (CCL) and thermal materials, expects sales of its high-performance thermal substrate materials for car headlights and other automotive applications to drive the company's overall revenue growth in the second half of this year.

Ventec's January-July 2022 revenues slipped 18.95% on year to NT$3.573 billion (US$119.10 million). Its profit performance was particularly good in the second quarter, with gross margin rising 1.6pp sequentially to 27.5% and net earnings advancing 14.69% on quarter to NT$137 million on revenues of NT$1.456 billion.

The company attributed the profit growth to stable shipments of high-margin specialty CCL materials for military, LEO (low-Earth orbit) and other aerospace applications, driven by the Russia-Ukraine war.

Ventec expects its overall capacity utilization to reach a regular peak-season level in the third quarter, and its shipments of thermal substrate materials for car headlights and other automotive applications will also sustain stable growth momentum in the second half of the year.

The company stressed it will continue to develop high-speed and high-frequency CCLs for specialty applications, high-performance eco-friendly heat dissipation materials, and new packaging substrate materials, looking to boos both revenue and profit gains in the years ahead.
