The body of a 32-year-old man has been found in a park in Reading today, Tuesday, August 2. A cordon is in place in Woodford Park, Woodley, and people are being asked to avoid the area.

Thames Valley Police say man's next of kin have been made aware. Police say the death is being treated as "unexplained" but not suspicious.

There will be a police presence in Woodford Park throughout the day and a file is currently being prepared for the coroner. According to officers, there is "no wider threat to the public."

A Thames Valley Police spokesperson said: "We are currently dealing with an unexplained but non-suspicious death in Woodford Park, Woodley. Please avoid the area but be assured there is no wider threat to the public.

"There will be an increased police presence in the area throughout the day. The 32-year-old man's next of kin are aware and are being supported by officers. A file will be prepared for the coroner. Thank you for your patience."

The cordon means the path to Reading Road is closed so anyone using it as a cut through has to go around.

A Wokingham Borough Council spokesperson said: "Avoid Woodford Park in Woodley if you were planning to visit today. There will be an increased presence of police in Woodley today. Our thoughts are with the man's family."
