Empire Abrasives releases new line of silicon carbide sanding belts, capable of dry or wet sanding.

Islandia, New York -- August 18, 2022 -- Online retailer, Empire Abrasives, has recently expanded their already vast selection of sanding belts to now include wet/dry silicon carbide belts.

While sanding belts made up of abrasive grains including aluminum oxide, ceramic alumina, and zirconia alumina make up the majority of belt sander belts demand, there are still niche uses for silicon carbide that the more popular grains are incapable of or inferior compared to silicon carbide (SiC). Some of the main use cases that set this grain apart from the others include using them as belts for glass sanding, sanding stones like marble and granite, floor sanding, and wet sanding.

The silicon carbide belts from Empire Abrasives incorporate a specialty oil/waterproof X-Weight polyester and cloth backings, allowing the operator to use them for either dry or wet sanding applications. This makes the SiC belts a much more economical option for wet sanding than the only alternative, ceramic sanding belts, which are usually twice the price.
