WEST AKRON: Police investigated burglary reports Sept. 4 in the 1700 block of East Waterford Court; Sept. 6 in the 300 and 400 blocks of West North Street and the 1700 block of Vernon Odom Boulevard; and Sept. 9 in the 1-100 block and 500 block of Oakdale Avenue. Police responded to a fight involving two women at a bus stop in the 1800 block of West Market Street Sept. 2, confiscated scissors from one woman, arrested her for felonious assault and took her to the Summit County Jail. The victim declined medical treatment for lacerations. A driver stopped for a traffic violation Sept. 3 was arrested for possession of crack cocaine. A woman was charged with criminal damaging Sept. 5 after video surveillance showed her throwing a rock that broke the window of a West Market Street business. Police investigated a report that a man that had been living in a vacant West Market Street house Sept. 5 and charged him with trespassing and possession of methamphetamine. A man reported he was walking his dog with his young daughter when a pit bull ran from a Mentor Road property and attacked his dog, which required veterinary care. He stated his daughter was injured when her stroller turned over. Police investigated damage to two buildings in the 600 block of West Market Street Sept. 5 after someone used a hammer to break four windows. Police also investigated reports of broken windows at several other businesses in the area during the week. Following a traffic stop Sept. 7, police arrested a man for driving under suspension on an outstanding warrant and charged him with possession of cocaine. A Weathervane Lane man reported he interrupted the theft of a catalytic converter from his vehicle Sept. 8. He heard a noise, went to the parking lot and confronted a man lying under his vehicle, who then got out from under his vehicle holding a saw and entered another vehicle that sped away. His vehicle’s tailpipe was damaged. Following an investigation into drug trafficking, officers from the narcotics unit and SNUD (Street Narcotics Uniform Detail) executed a search warrant at a residence in the 1100 block of Hardesty Boulevard Sept. 8. A resident, stopped as he left in his vehicle, was found to be in possession of fentanyl and $1,766 cash, and police recovered another 7 grams of fentanyl and other items from his home. The man was charged with possession of and trafficking in narcotics. On Sept. 8, a Grace Avenue man reported an above ground swimming pool in his yard was slashed. Police reviewed video surveillance Sept. 8 to identify two men who stole a snowblower from a shed outside a business in the 1700 block of Merriman Road. A security officer at a building in the 1700 block of Vernon Odom Boulevard reported Sept. 9 a man threatened him and used a baseball bat to strike a security screen and challenge him to come out and fight. A South Rhodes Avenue woman reported she argued with a man Sept. 10 when he refused to leave, and he took her credit card, cellphone and cat and fled when she called police. Police stopped his vehicle, retrieved her possessions and charged him with theft. Police investigated a Sept. 10 report by a Falmouth Road woman who said someone obtained checks from her account through her bank and used them at banks in Akron and Ravenna to withdraw more than $9,000 from her account. A South Maple Street woman reported Sept. 11 a man was tampering with her air conditioning unit. Police determined he stole the breaker and searched the area for him. A security officer reported a vehicle was in the parking lot of a West Market Street bar Sept. 11 with a man inside when three males approached him and appeared to sell him something, then left. The man left the vehicle running in the parking lot and entered the bar. Police questioned him about a bag of white powder seen inside the car and he reportedly said someone else had been driving the car. The substance tested positive for fentanyl and he was charged with drug possession.

BATH: On Aug. 31 two employees of an Everett Road school reported receiving unwanted calls from the same person on their personal phones. A resident found a chain saw in the traffic lanes of Ira Road Aug. 31 and gave it to police. Employees reported a frequent shoplifter stole items from a store in a Medina Road plaza Sept. 2. Police apprehended him as he dropped a bag containing $129 in items and walked away with a male companion. The man was charged with theft and arrested on outstanding warrants for theft. Both men were banned from the store, and the shoplifter was banned from two other stores in the plaza. Following a traffic stop Sept. 2, police arrested a passenger on a warrant and released him to Summit County Sheriff’s Office deputies to be held for extradition to Holmes County. A driver stopped for a traffic violation Sept. 5 was released to Summa Health police on a warrant for vandalism. Her vehicle was left parked in the lot to be retrieved by family member. Police searched the area near a Medina Road store Sept. 5 after employees reported a man concealed five hair clippers totaling $1,000 and left without paying for them. Officers located a man wanted on warrants in several communities at a Medina Road gas station Sept. 5, confiscated suspected fentanyl and drug paraphernalia and released him to Summit County deputies. A Ghentwood Drive resident reported her driver’s license was used as identification Sept. 6. Police completed a dog-bite report after a woman reported she encountered three Labradoodles as she delivered a package to a North Medina Line Road residence Sept. 7 and one of them bit her.

COPLEY: Police patrolling the southbound lanes of Interstate 77 Sept. 1 observed a passenger remove a temporary license tag from the rear window and stopped the driver, who was arrested for driving under multiple license suspensions. A passenger was arrested for drug possession after police found methamphetamine in her purse. A couple who left a Medina Road restaurant without paying their tab Sept. 2 went to a nearby motel, where police confronted them. They agreed to pay the bill and the victim declined charges. Employees called police to a Copley gas station Sept. 5 after a woman attempted to cash a counterfeit $100 bill. When they refused it, she went to a vehicle and got a counterfeit $20 bill from a man. The employees kept the bill and called police, who searched for the two. Norton Police Department officers stopped them at a gas station and Copley officers recovered counterfeit bills and charged both with counterfeiting. The woman was additionally charged with drug possession. Police determined the vehicle they used had been stolen and both suspects were released to Norton police, who charged them with receiving stolen property. Police investigated the theft of a catalytic converter from a motorhome parked in a Jacoby Road storage facility Aug. 8. A woman arrested on a warrant on Ridgewood Road Sept. 8 was taken to the Summit County Jail for possession of liquid methamphetamine and syringes found in her backpack. The manager of a Montrose West Avenue hotel called police Sept. 9 stating a former employee threatened to kill him and refused to leave. The manager asked that the man be banned from the business and declined charges. Police located the suspect and advised him. Employees reported a shoplifter left a Rothrock Road store in a vehicle Sept. 9. Police stopped the vehicle, recovered two stolen video games and returned them to the store, which declined charges. On Sept. 10, police initiated a traffic stop on a driver whose license was under multiple suspensions, but he continued driving to a facility and then told police it was his girlfriend’s car and she worked there. He was arrested for driving under suspension and failure to obey police orders and taken to jail to await extradition to Trumbull County on warrants.

FAIRLAWN: Employees of a Medina Road store reported Sept. 2 a woman concealed $254 in merchandise and left without paying for it. After she provided a false name, she was charged with theft, falsification and possession of marijuana found in her purse. The Juneau Avenue woman was banned from the store indefinitely. A Vernon Odom Boulevard woman was charged with theft Sept. 5 after she concealed meat and liquor in a bag and attempted to leave a store in the 2700 block of West Market Street without paying for the $179 in merchandise. She was banned from the store indefinitely. Police arrested a Zahn Drive woman for theft of items worth $85 from a West Market Street store Sept. 6.

NORTON: On Aug. 30, police investigated the theft of two golf carts from a South Cleveland-Massillon Road location the previous night. The manager of a Barber Road business reported Sept. 2 a man purchased a leaf blower and chain saw totaling $2,337 using a credit card approved for purchase Aug. 8, but which then declined the purchase Aug. 23 and debited the money from the business, which has been unable to contact the customer. Police were unable to locate the man and requested video surveillance of the purchase. Residents gave police drug paraphernalia found along the 4100 block of Reimer Road Sept. 2. Police and EMS responded to a suspected drug overdose on Holly Avenue Sept. 2. Two people were evaluated and refused hospital transport. On Sept. 3, police reviewed video surveillance to identify a man who had a sleeping mat under his arm when he trespassed on private property on Barber Road and entered a wooded area. Employees of a hospital asked police to check on the welfare of a man and his girlfriend at a South Hametown Road location Sept. 3. The man told police he requested a ride to the hospital and the woman agreed to drive him but they began arguing. Police transported him to the hospital. Officers responded to a report that a man was sleeping in the roadway around South Hametown and Johnson roads Sept. 4 at 5:30 a.m. and found him sleeping on the hood of his car. They woke him and he said he was too drunk to drive. He was charged with underage drinking and a friend arrived to take him and the vehicle home. The owner of a business in the 4000 block of South Cleveland-Massillon Road reported Sept. 6 a riding lawn mower was stolen from outside the building the previous weekend.

RICHFIELD: Township workers reported Aug. 29 someone broke into a sewer pump station on Townsend Road, caused extensive damage to equipment and stole a battery and muffler from a generator. Police stopped a driver for speeding on Wheatley Road Aug. 30, confiscated two THC vapor pens, which were purchased with a medical marijuana permit, but not in dispensary containers, and advised the parties of the laws concerning medical marijuana. On Aug. 31, police investigated the attempted burglary of a Streetsboro Road business after someone tampered with a window. On Sept. 3 after attempts to locate the driver, police called a tow truck to remove an abandoned tractor-trailer blocking the parking lot of a Brecksville Road travel center and advised the company that owned the truck of its whereabouts. Police responded to a disturbance at a Boston Mills Road residence Sept. 3 and remained while a woman gathered her belongings and awaited a ride. The Broadview Heights Police Department notified officers they were pursuing a driver speeding south into Richfield on Interstate 77 Sept. 3. The driver exited on Wheatley Road and re-entered the highway, and Richfield officers located the vehicle at a rest area and notified Broadview Heights police, who arrested the driver for fleeing and a passenger on a warrant. Police investigated a report by the Bath Police Department regarding a woman treated at a facility in Bath for suspicious injuries sustained in Richfield. On Sept. 4, police and EMS responded to a Brecksville Road motel where a man overdosed on drugs for the second time in one week. He stated he could not remember what he took or where he got the drugs and police found no contraband. He refused hospital transport. Police responded to a four-vehicle crash on Southern Road Sept. 4. One driver reportedly admitted he had been drinking and appeared intoxicated. He failed a field sobriety test and refused a BAC test. He was arrested for DUI and using a firearm while intoxicated after police recovered a loaded gun from the center console of his truck.
